DSS accuses Sowore of mobilizing against Nigeria even in detention

Pro-democracy campaigner and leader #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore has been mobilizing Nigerians for violence and revolution against President Muhammadu Buhari’s government even while in detention, the Department of State Services (DSS) has alleged.
The DSS on Tuesday accused Sowore of abusing the privileges accorded him in detention by using his telephone to mobilise against the government.
Briefing the media in Abuja on Tuesday, DSS Spokesman, Peter Afunanya also dismissed reports by Sowore’s lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, that he was at the DSS to secure bail of the former presidential candidate.
“Sowore has been using his phone and making contact, and even using it to mobilize people and even call for violence and call for action against the Nigerian state. And call for destruction of the Nigeria entity.
“The records are straight, Falana has not been here since these things started. Mr. Femi Falana has not visited this office since the issue of bail started. We said this when this thing started, that Falana who is a friend of the DG has not called him even for one day on this. But on previous occasion when issues of this nature arose, Mr. Falana was always calling the DG.”
He disclosed that the DSS was keeping Sowore in custody because no credible Nigerian has come forward to secure his bail.
“People who should take Sowore through proper documentation had not come and up till now they haven’t, rather some experienced persons, people who ordinarily should be respected came out to say that some people came and they didn’t see us. That is not true.”
He said the DSS would follow the administrative procedure in Sowore’s issue, adding, “We respect rules and orders of the court and there was never a time the Director-General said he would not release Sowore.”
