Real Madrid set Arsenal deadline over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer
Real Madrid have given Arsenal a deadline to make a decision over selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports, according to metro.co.uk.
Gabon forward Aubameyang has developed into arguably Arsenal’s most important player since signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2018.
The 30-year-old has scored 61 goals in 97 appearances for the Gunners and was named captain following Granit Xhaka’s axing earlier this season.
Despite Aubameyang’s influence at the Emirates, the Arsenal board are struggling to convince him to sign a contract extension, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2021.
Concerned about losing Aubameyang on a free transfer, Arsenal may yet decide to sell the player this summer, with Real Madrid interested in striking a deal. But Mirror Sport say the Spanish giants are unwilling to wait around and want a decision from Arsenal by June 15.
It is claimed Real are weighing up whether to use Dani Ceballos in a swap deal involving Aubameyang, but the Spanish midfielder is believed to be keen on returning to Madrid.
