Los Angeles 2028 Olympics Qualifier: Ajibade, six others swell Super Falcons’ camp to 21 players

Super Falcons’ Captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, led six other players to the team’s camp in Ikenne, yesterday, ahead of this weekend’s Los Angeles Olympics qualifying match against Comoros.

The latest arrival brought the number of players in camp to 21 players.

The other players that jetted in yesterday were defender Michelle Alozie, midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini, and forwards Folashade Ijamilusi and Janet Akekoromowei, with five more expected by yesterday evening.

Friday’s match, which is actually the first leg that should have been played in Comoros, will kick off at 6.00 pm at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo.

CAF has selected Rwandese official Henriette Byukusenge as the referee, with her compatriots Sandrine Murangwa, Regine Mukayiranga and Aline Umutoni as first assistant, second assistant and fourth official respectively.

Fransiska Katjaimo from Namibia will serve as referee assessor while Oumou Sy from Burkina Faso will be in the role of commissioner.

Meanwhile, the Comoros senior women national team, who arrived in Ijebu-Ode on Monday night, had their first training session in Ikenne-Remo yesterday evening.

The players in camp are goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma; defenders Farida Abdulwahab, Sandra John, Tumininu Adeshina, Valentina Uroko, Glory Edet, Shukurat Oladipo, and Glory Ogbonna.

Others are midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Favour Omenazu, Joy Igbokwe, Jennifer Echegini, Fatimoh Solaty, and Suliat Abideen.

Among the forwards are Rasheedat Ajibade, Shakirat Moshood, Blessing Nkor, Sandra John, Folashade Ijamilusi and Janet Akekoromowei.

Players expected to arrive yesterday were goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie and Comfort Erhabor, as well as forwards Gift Monday, Joy Omewa and Uchenna Kanu.
