FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Busari lists Harmony, Adegbuyi, 19 others for Morocco
Head Coach Akeem Busari has selected his list of 21 players to fly Nigeria’s flag at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals, which will hold in Morocco from October 17 to November 7.
The list includes team captain Harmony Chidi, defenders Elizabeth Adesuyi and Esther Stephen, midfielders Mary Dustan and Favour Nkwocha, and forwards Tosin Rafiu, Queen Joseph, Precious Oscar and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi.
The team of players and officials will depart the shores of Nigeria for Morocco on Wednesday.
2022 FIFA World Cup bronze medallists Nigeria, drawn in group B, will play their first match of the competition against Poland on October 17, before further group phase matches against Puerto Rico and North Korea on October 20 and 23 respectively.
The 21 players elected for the World Cup are goalkeepers Jane Ijirigho (Nasarawa Amazons), Mercy Felix (Obosa FA) and Onyinyechi Opara (Delta Queens).
The defenders are Elizabeth Adesuyi (Pacesetter Queens), Esther Stephen (Unification Ladies), Chidera Oparanmegwa (Delta Queens), Azeezat Oduntan (Robo Queens), Opeyemi Sunday (Nasarawa Amazons), Rodiat Yusuf (Robo Queens) and Kaosarat Akanji (Dreamstar Ladies).
The midfielders are Awawu Bashiru (Confluence Queens), Mary Dustan (Imo Strikers), Muinat Rotimi (Nakamura Academy), Favour Nkwocha (Robo Queens) and Shakirat Tobiloba (Remo Stars Ladies).
The forwards in the team are Tosin Rafiu (Robo Queens), Harmony Chidi (Bayelsa Queens), Oluebube Umejiaku (Heartland Queens), Queen Joseph (Fosla Academy), Precious Oscar (Edo Queens) and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi (Robo Queens).
