Arsenal’s Williams transfer in doubt as Gunners’ plan Lookman ‘talks’

Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs set to engage in talks to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman this summer reports mirror.co.uk.
The Nigeria international is widely expected to depart Bergamo after a successful three-year stint with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side and a return to the Premier League is on the cards amid significant transfer interest.
Lookman has scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 37 games so far this season, and his form over the past few years has attracted the attention of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
That is according to CaughtOffside, who claim that all five clubs are planning on holding talks with the 27-year-old ahead of the summer window.
Barcelona are also eager to sign Lookman this summer and they have reportedly contacted his representatives to learn of his availability, while Juventus have expressed their interest in his services too. However, both clubs are unlikely to afford Atalanta’s asking price of between €60-65 million.
As a result, a move back to the Premier League could take place during the 2025 summer transfer window.
If Arsenal are able to win the race to sign Lookman this summer, it could spell the end of their pursuit of Athletic Club superstar Nico Williams.
The Spain international has been the club’s priority left winger target for the past 12 months and FootballTransfers understands that Mikel Arteta’s side are the most likely candidates to finalise an agreement with the 22-year-old.
However, given Lookman and Williams both favour playing off the left flank, Arsenal will only sign one of them, especially as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard still remain at the club.
As a result, Williams’ proposed move to the Emirates Stadium could be thrown into doubt if the Gunners continue to chase Lookman.
