Barcelona board ready response for ‘furious’ Lionel Messi in case of transfer request
Barcelona have prepared a response for Lionel Messi should he hand in a transfer request this week, reports mirror.co.uk.
Messi is said to be ‘furious’ that details of his private conversation with new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman were recently leaked, report Argentine paper Clarin.
It has left the 34-year-old seriously considering his future at a time when Barcelona need him more than ever before.
The Catalan giants are in free fall after losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and Messi recently admitted he sees himself ‘more out than in’ at the Camp Nou.
The Argentina international has one year remaining on his current Barcelona deal, but is seemingly considering leaving this month.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona aren’t going to make things too easy for Messi, despite their respect for the forward.
The Catalan club have no intention of selling their best player and should he hand in a transfer request they will quickly remind him he has a £631million buy-out clause.
Messi held crisis talks with the club just before Quique Setien was sacked. He later spoke to Koeman when he was named boss.
Barcelona legend Koeman didn’t go into detail about the chat, but revealed he still doesn’t know for sure if Messi wants to remain at the club.
The former Everton manager said: “I don’t know if I have to convince Messi.
“He is the best player in the world and you want the best player in the world in your team, not on the other side.
“For my part, I would love to work with Messi. He wins football matches and I would be really happy if he decides to stay.”
He added: “He has a contract. He has one year left. He is a Barcelona player.”
