The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to be thorough in the conduct of investigation into the incident at Ohafia that led to the death of Ifeanyi Arunsi, who was allegedly killed by a policeman attached to the state command.
Ikpeazu who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Ude Chukwu, made the call when he received a delegation of senior police officers, led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police In charge of ICT Force Headquarters, DIG. Celestine Okoye, at the Government House, Umuahia on his way to Ebem Ohafia to investigate the incident.
The governor pleaded with the police to do something about the deviants among the force as the state would not want a repeat of unnecessary killings of its innocent citizens.
He regretted the massive destruction of property belonging to both the police and private individuals while requesting that efforts be made by the force headquarters to render assistance to the police division in Ohafia to enable them commence operations as soon as possible.
“We assure you of government’s continued cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force to enable you function optimally as no sane society can function without the police force,” he added.
