CHAN: Super Eagles B hold Zanzibar 2-2, ready for Senegal

The home-based senior national team, Super Eagles B, yesterday, held Zanzibar’s national team to a 2-2 draw to round off their preparation for the 13th African Nations Championship (CHAN), which kicks off tomorrow.
As was the case in the first game on Monday, the Nigerians dominated the proceedings and this time came out with the goods courtesy of two first half strikes by Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United and Remo Stars Adedayo Olamilekan.
But Zanzibar came back stronger in the second half with two goals to even scores.
Yesterday’s encounter came five days before Nigeria’s first match at the 2024 CHAN– a clash with Cup holders Senegal – at Zanzibar’s 15,000 -capacity Amaan Stadium.
The Eagles will then confront Sudan in their second match of the group phase (also at the Amaan Stadium) on August 12 before concluding their Group D campaign against Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on August 19. Three countries, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda will host the biennial competition from August 2 to August 30.
Coach Eric Chelle made five changes to the team that played the first game on Monday, giving starting shirts to Akanni Kudus, Egbe Manyo, Malik Jabbar, Vincent Temitope and Anas Yusuf.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the team will now move into their official camp for the games in Zanzibar.
