Real Madrid locked in secret transfer talks ‘for weeks’ with William Saliba

Real Madrid are reportedly in concrete talks to sign William Saliba from Arsenal and view a summer move as a priority.
L’Equipe reports that the Spanish club have been in contact with Saliba’s entourage “for weeks” and that they will test the waters with Arsenal in the coming months. Los Blancos view Saliba as a potential leader at the back for years to come.
Real have suffered badly with injuries in defence this season, with David Alaba and Eder Militao both missing long stretches of the campaign. Saliba has developed into one of the world’s best centre-backs and could improve the La Liga giants’ defence.
Saliba has just two years left on his contract at Arsenal, so this could be their last chance to sell him for a big transfer fee. The Gunners have offered him a contract extension but L’Equipe report that Real are the one club who could lure the Frenchman away from the Emirates.
Saliba will next be in action for Arsenal against PSG in their Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday, a tie the Gunners trail 1-0 after the first leg. They then travel to Anfield to play Liverpool in the Premier League.
